I’m a little speechless when it comes to this week’s featured dish.  Fried chicken encased in seaweed and rice, sprinkled with bacon, and sandwiched between soft waffles.  Oh, and drizzled with maple syrup spicy mayo.  So wrong, yet so, so right.  I couldn’t stop eating the sweet, salty, crispy morsels that forever changed the way I view sushi.  Ok, maybe not forever, but definitely for that moment.  Technically, each component was surprisingly decent.  The chicken stayed crunchy, the sweet mayo was nicely balanced, and the bacon was crisp.  I definitely recommend trying it, preferably with a group to share.  The roll is pretty rich and, frankly, a little ridiculous.  However, I applaud Sushi Maki for thinking outside the box (or, roll) and coming up with a trend-appropriate anomaly among an otherwise traditional menu.
